2012 Projects - A Call for Help

Help Island Culture Archival Support (ICAS) grow our mission by supporting our projects in 2012. Any amount donated will be extremely helpful, and will be properly acknowledged on our Website.

Tuvalu (February 2012, $700):
The National Archives and Library of Tuvalu is in need of computers. ICAS currently has two computers with accessories (monitors, keyboards, etc.) to donate to them. Unfortunately, shipping costs can be quite expensive, especially to an isolated island in the Pacific. Your donation will help guarantee that the items will be securely shipped!

Palau (May 2012, $1000):
ICAS will provide voluntary assistance to the National Archives of Palau to help process a backlog of records and preserve their value and meaning.

Palau

ICAS will help the archives sort, appraise, process, and make the collections accessible to present and future generations. We want to raise $1000 for archival supplies such as acid-free folders and boxes to ensure the longevity of these records.

Vanuatu (July 2012, $3500):

Vanuatu

ICAS continues to support the creation of a new National Library and Archives of Vanuatu that will be built in 2013. A volunteer will help process a backlog of records currently housed in forty-foot containers and support the staff prepare for the opening of the new National Archives. The project will include:

Disaster Management (Ongoing, Any Amount):

The Pacific Islands are strewn across a very vast and volatile region. We have seen the devestation that cyclones, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes can have on these nations. Even rising sea levels due to Global Warming is beginning to affect this part of the world. ICAS wants to be prepared to spring to action when a calamity hits an island. Your donation will help assemble volunteers, acquire cleaning and archival supplies, and the shipment of these supplies.

Don't forget that your donation is a tax-deductible contribution!!
